The most beautiful places on earth: Seatkickers guide

All this talk of holidays in the news is making me hanker after one big time, and one thing I'm really missing about holidays is seeing new places - beautiful places.

Beauty can mean different things to different people and in different situations.

I remember travelling with my friend and going on a catamaran trip around the Whitsunday Islands in Australia. The pristine silica sands of Whitehaven beach and the beautiful turquoise sea were so picture-perfect they were almost difficult to take in, like my brain just couldn't compute how stunning it really was. (sadly it was 2003, pre camera phones and I have no photographic evidence of my visit!) I can still vividly remember it though and hear that silica squeak whenever I think about it.

Since then though, I've been fortunate enough to travel to lots of places I've found beautiful for entirely different reasons:

I've found beauty in the hydrangea-lined streets of Biarritz, the gothic architechture of Bologna and the pastel art deco streets of Miami beach.

But where are the places YOU find most beautiful?

Here's the top 10 according to you on our Instagram @Seatkickers_ and Facebook group

Becca:

THE MALDIVES

Alison:

TULUM ON THE YUCATAN COAST, MEXICO

But it was 16 years ago and it was undeveloped, just a little row of local shops and the Mayan Castle ruins, the most stunning blue seas that went on uninterrupted as far as the eye could sea and inland was just the flats of mangroves. But I understand it's not quite like that now with the little shops gone, a number of high end hotels dot the coast and in the mangroves! I don't think I can face going back as I fear my memory will be ruined

Karen:

VLADIVOSTOK ON THE SIBERIAN RAILWAY

We spent a couple of days in Vladivostok at the end of the Siberian railway, and just hit lucky meeting a couple of nice locals, and I have these memories of an amazing place. But logically when I look at photos I know we could easily have spent 2 days thinking 'what a dive'. My parents talk a lot about how lovely Honfleur is in France, but to me that's the place where me & the other half only had a tenner left and it wasn't enough to buy food because the whole place is a rip off and I never want to go back I just remember hunger

Suzi:

PERU

It was in 2000 so all pics were on a 35mm camera. We travelled the whole of Peru, it was mind blowing. 100% recommended. Favourite place in Europe would be Hungary, again 35mm camera 1996 campervan trip around Europe. Travel is the best medicine

Karen

MOSCOW IN WINTER

Kimberley

PRAGUE

I absolutely love Prague, I've been 3 times and will definitely go back with my daughter. I love all the gothic architecture and I plan on visiting more Eastern and northern European cities in the future.

However the grand canyon is mind blowing, we flew over it in a helicopter and I can't describe how beautiful it is! You feel so small and it really takes your breath away. I would love to go back!
